Overview

Water-Dispersible Curcumin is a specially engineered form of turmeric extract (Curcuma longa, Rhizome) developed to overcome curcumin's natural bioavailability limitations. By improving dispersibility in aqueous systems, it enables reliable, precise incorporation into nutraceutical capsules and tablets, functional beverages, wellness powders and dietary supplement formulations.

Why Curcumin

The golden spice of Indian Ayurveda.

Turmeric's curcuminoids have long been prized in Ayurveda for wellness. These compounds provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits by helping inhibit inflammatory markers and scavenge free radicals. Curcumin occurs alongside two related compounds, together known as the curcuminoids.

I

Curcumin

The most abundant curcuminoid (~77% of the mixture), responsible for the primary antioxidant effects.

II

Demethoxycurcumin

Comprises approximately 17% of the mixture; structurally similar to curcumin.

III

Bisdemethoxycurcumin

The minor component (~3%), noted for its unique physiological stability.

The Bioavailability Challenge

Why standard curcumin extract is hard for the body to use.

๐Ÿ’ง

Low Water Solubility

Curcuminoids are lipophilic (fat-soluble) and almost completely insoluble in water, which hinders their absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.

โš™

Rapid Metabolism

Once ingested, the liver and intestines quickly convert curcuminoids into inactive metabolites through glucuronidation and sulfation.

โฑ

Fast Elimination

The body treats these compounds as foreign substances and rapidly eliminates them via feces and bile, resulting in very short systemic retention.

๐Ÿงช

Instability at Physiological pH

Curcumin is highly unstable and degrades quickly in the neutral-to-alkaline environment of the small intestine.

How Water Dispersibility Helps

Engineered to work around curcumin's natural limitations.

Greater Absorption

Improved uptake across the intestinal wall.

Better Distribution

Enhanced dispersion of an otherwise hydrophobic compound.

Higher Bioavailability

More active curcumin reaching systemic circulation.

Less Wasted Extract

More efficient use of the raw turmeric extraction.
